Christmas

So I'm posting this way after Christmas but felt it was worth documenting. I truly love Christmas and was very excited for Kieran's first Christmas. I did a lot of research and found the best Santa in town. This isn't your typical mall Santa - this dud is the real deal. The beard is real, the laugh is real and something tells me this guy gets a real kick out of that red felt getup he wears.

I made the apointment months in advance. Santosh took the day off from work. the sailor suit I dreamed he'd wear fit perfectly. We were on time and Santa was running on time. Santa's helper came over to greet us and Kieran flashed a killer smile. He was ready to go. We handed Kieran over to Santa's helper and he cuddled until it was his turn. I was so giddy. . . and then. . it all fell apart.

Santa was greeting Kieran with open arms but Kieran was having no part of this. He screamed from the time he got to Santa until the minute he was back in our arms. I bought the photo - even though I wasn't allowed to see it. As you can see - Santa looks great, doesn't he?

My mom asked why we didn't just take a picture with Santa's helper. You'd think that a setup like this with the perfect tree and the perfect Santa would have a picture perfect helper, right? Well, sort of. She was picture perfect alright. . if it was Playboy magazine. Somehow the only part of this scene that wasn't authentic was the bleach blond in a tank top who was pretending to be an elf. Kieran loved her of course (he always loves a blond) but somehow the moment was ruined and a photo in front of the tree with a girl who probably works at Hooters as her main career just didn't seem to be something that would salvage this mess.

Strangely Kieran was in a great mood and we had a lovely lunch after all of this.
